We invite you to join us. If you are a local
resident, stop by any time, there's almost always
someone at the theatre rehearsing an upcoming
production, taking part in a workshop, or
building a set. If you aren't an area resident,
enjoy a beautiful country drive and join us for a
production. There are wonderful restaurants
steps away or just down the street. You can

Shandaken Theatrical Society began in 1976 when a
small group of local residents performed an original
play called, "Happiness is Shandaken". Since then STS
has mounted over 70 full scale productions and
countless other smaller projects. Our productions are
filled with performers from all walks of life, from
former professional actors to local children enjoying
their first on-stage experience.
Every season we produce a diverse program of events
including musicals, contemporary and classical plays,
original works by Hudson Valley playwrights, cabaret
performances, a film series, a Christmas show and
various workshops for adults and children. We offer
low ticket prices and workshop fees so that our
programming is accessible to every member of the
community. We proudly support the village of
Phoenicia as a theatrical ensemble, cultural space, and
a social and artistic venue.
